Clara Ann Harder, 89, of Shoals
Clara Ann Harder, 89, of Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at her residence.
Born July 30, 1934, at her home in Shoals, she was the daughter of Charles E. And Madge O. (Dunlap) Ervin.
She married Thomas E. Harder on February 13, 1954 at the Lutheran Crossroads Church in Dubois.
Clara graduated from Shoals High School with the class of 1952 and was of the Lutheran faith.
She was a homemaker and had worked at RCA in Bloomington, IN, Crane Army Base, Washington Rubber Plant, a Car Hop at Bo-Mac’s, and also at the Jug Rox Grill.
Clara loved being with her children and grandchildren, her cocker spaniels and cats, and enjoyed being at the Hindostan Falls, gardening, and loved her home and hosting parties.
She was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 61, where she served as past president, a charter member of the Eagle’s Lodge #2442, and lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Clara Lee Harder, Cathy Ann Harder, Douglas Edward Harder, and Kimberly Lynn Harder; four grandson’s Eric Michael (Jamie) Shaw, Benjamin Chad (Kellie) Shaw, Douglas Edward (Jenifer) Harder Jr., Waylon Thomas Harder; five great-grandchildren, Maggie Lea Shaw, Gracie Erica Shaw, Carson Reid Shaw, Kenley Elizabeth Shaw, and Kyra Ann Shaw; great-great-granddaughter, Ruby Ann Harder; sister-in-law, Ellen Ross; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Cindi (Ted) Howlett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Stiles-Harder; and siblings, Russell Gene Ross, William R. Jones, and baby brother, Bobby.
Per Clara’s wishes, cremation was chosen and no services will be held at this time.
Graveside service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care.
