Charles U. Kreilein, age 83 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
Charles was born in Jasper, Indiana on July 9, 1936 to Hilbert and Clara (Buechlein) Kreilein. He married Clara Marie Hoppenjans on May 5, 1959 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Charles was a furniture maker who worked for Jasper Seating and the Jasper Corporation, from which he retired.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the St. Anthony American Legion Post #493.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and their men's sodality.
He was a 4th Degree Knight and a past Deputy Grand Knight of the Huntingburg Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of the Huntingburg Conservation Club and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and grilling.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Marie Kreilein of Jasper, two sons, Kevin Kreilein (Dorothy) of Huntingburg, and Steven Kreilein (Charlotte) of Ireland, two grandchildren, Brooke and Kendall Kreilein (Cole Libbert), one brother, Michael Kreilein (Carol), St. Anthony, and two sister-in-laws, Janice Kreilein, St. Anthony, and Gloria Kreilein, Campbellsville, KY.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Max and Robert Kreilein.
A Mass of Christian Burial Charles U. Kreilein will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The St. Anthony American Legion Post #493 will conduct military gravesite rites.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service time at Holy Family Church on Wednesday. The Holy Family Parish will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, or a favorite charity.
