Bernida M. Jochim, 91, of Mariah Hill

Bernida M. Jochim, 91, of Mariah Hill passed away Thursday April 23, 2020 at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. Bernida was born June 8, 1928 in Mariah Hill to John & Theresia (Gogel) Daunhauer. She was united in marriage to Louis O. Jochim on May 28, 1949 in Mary Help Of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. Louis preceded her in death on July 30, 2009.

Bernida was a lifelong member of Mary Help Of Christians Church and its Ladies Sodality, where she also worked as an organizer and support staff. She was an active member of the church and community. Bernida was a member of the Santa Claus Legion Auxillary, and was a former Spencer County 4-H leader. She was an avid quilter, gardener, and loved cooking for her family and friends. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always making them laugh.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol (Tony) Riehle of Ferdinand, Doris (Gabe) Hopf of Jasper, and Connie (Brad) Fella of Santa Claus. One son. Daniel (Kris) Jochim of Mariah Hill. Twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. One sister, Ardella Wilmes of Jasper. Bernida was preceded in death by six sisters, Philomena Dilger, Corneal Boehman, Lenora Heilers, Verena Bettag, Agnes Schue and Rose Bitzer. Three brothers, Pat, Jeff and Clarence Daunhauer.

Private family services will be held at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Graveside services will be held at Mary Help Of Christians Church Cemetery in Mariah Hill on Monday April 27^th at 10:00 AM central (11:00 eastern).
