Bernard C. Hopf, age 86, of Jasper

Bernard C. Hopf, age 86, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at  8:18 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN.  

Bernard was born in Jasper, Indiana, on April 22, 1934 to Victor and Josephine (Hurst) Hopf.  He married Augusta Betz  on May 3, 1958, at Sacred Heart Campus in Schnellville, Indiana.  She preceded him in death on April 11, 1988. 

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Saint Vincent DePaul Society. 

He worked at Dubois County Block and Brick for 47 years.  

He enjoyed playing cards, adoration at Precious Blood Catholic Church and meeting with friends for breakfast.  

Surviving is his companion of 32 years; Lucille Recker, Ferdinand, IN, three daughters; Phyllis (Alan) Schepers, Jasper, IN, Bev Bromm, Jasper, IN, Janet (Dave) Leisman, St. Anthony, IN, four sons; Steve (Brenda) Hopf, Ferdinand, IN, Jerry (Brenda) Hopf, Schnellville, IN, Donnie Hopf, Jasper, IN, Dennis Hopf, Jasper, IN, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers; Arnold (Sharon) Hopf, Jasper, IN and Jim (Pat) Hopf, Jasper, IN. Also surviving is the family of Lucille Recker who played a big part in Bernard's life.  

Preceding him in death besides his wife, are one sister; Anna Mae (Bob) Mehringer and one brother Vince Hopf.  

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard C. Hopf will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Tuesday.  Masks and social distancing will be required.
