Amos F. Schnaus, age 86 of Ireland, IN, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, IN. Amos was born in Ireland, IN, on November 27, 1931 to Frank and Clara (Stenftenagel) Schnaus. He married Mary Ann Schwenk on November 26, 1953 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland. A lifelong farmer, Amos was one of the first poultry producers in the Ireland area, and was a member of the National Farmer's Organization. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, the Ireland Sportsman's Club, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper Moose. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid I.U. Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal's Baseball fan, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving is his wife Mary Ann Schnaus, Ireland, three daughters, Gail Schnaus, Jasper, Sheila Donahue (David), Alexandria, VA, and Tama Stemle (Randy), Celestine, one son, Scott Schnaus (Charlotte), Ireland, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Dorothy Heichelbech, Jasper, and one brother, Leo Schnaus (Verena), Ireland.Preceding him in death were two sisters, Mary Schnaus and Alice Helling, and two brothers, Clarence Schnaus and Felix Schnaus, and one grandchild who died in infancy, Sean Donahue. Funeral services for Amos F. Schnaus will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Monday, April 30, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or a favorite Charity.
