Alva Yoder, 77, of Elnora
Alva Yoder, 77, of Elnora, died Friday, May 27, 2022, at his home.
He was
born Dec. 26, 1944, in Daviess County to William and Rosanna (Stoll) Yoder. He
married Clara (Wagler) Yoder on July 22, 1967.
Alva was a lifelong farmer and was a member of Berea Mennonite Church.
He had attended Epsom schools and had served at Methodist Hospital in
Indianapolis. During his life, he enjoyed listening to Christian bluegrass music,
pulling tractors, water skiing, spending his winters in Florida, and watching his
family show swine and cattle at 4-H shows.
Survivors include his wife Clara; their children Gwen (Cliff) Graber,
Montgomery, Marlene (Marlin) Swartzentruber, Odon; Shannon (Darrin) Graber,
Loogootee, and Travis (Marsha) Yoder, Odon; 12 grandchildren Courtney Graber,
Eric Graber (Leah Hammelman), Chloe Graber, Brooke (Darin) Raber, Taylor
Swartzentruber (Jaylen Lengacher), Dryce, Tyson, and Shaylee Graber, Sarah
Yoder (Wes Fleagle), Hannah, Emma, and Logan Yoder; one brother, Ervin (Jean)
Yoder; two sisters, Clara (Kenny) Swartzentruber and Beulah Yoder; in-laws Ervin
(Mary) Wagler, Fannie Knepp, Laura (Don) Swartzentruber, Fred (Rita) Wagler,
Rudy Wagler, Jeannie (Mike) Guinn, and Sylvia Wagler; aunt Rose Ann Stoll,
and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Paul Yoder; in-laws Elmer
and Kay Wagler and Elmer Knepp; two nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be Monday, May 30, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berea Mennonite Church in
Cannelburg.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at Berea
Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
