UPDATE: Two Airlifted Following Crash on SR 162 Thursday Morning

FERDINAND -- We're learning more about a crash Thursday morning on SR 162 just north of I-64 just south of Ferdinand.

Police say 45-year-old Derrick Carter from Louisville was driving north on 162 when  the vehicle went off of the west side of the roadway.  There's no word at this hour on what made the box truck go off of the road.

Carter was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.  A passenger, 42-year-old Juanito Lyon,s was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper by ambulance.

The roadway was closed for a few hours as crews cleaned up the scene and investigated.

The accident is still under investigation by the Indiana State Police.
