U.S. Senator Mike Braun: "It's really gone to a new level now, and I fear that it will come home to roost"

Jasper - United States Senator Mike Braun joined WITZ News Director Kris Norton for an exclusive interview, Wednesday morning. Among a list of topics, Senator Braun discussed the current climate in Washington, D.C., big government spending, and getting Americans back to work.

With the Democratic party pushing free higher education, cancelling student debt, and a $15-per-hour minimum wage, Senator Braun sees a concerning pattern of spending.

"We've got a big spending problem - even in our normal budget," Braun said. "We run trillion dollar deficits that are soon going to be $1.5 trillion."

Senator Braun cautioned that overspending now may lead to problems in the future, something that other Republicans may not even speak about.

"You need the rest of the story - you're not going to get it from folks down here because many Republicans have things they like in the spending," said Braun. "But it's really gone to a new level, now, and I fear that it will come home to roost in a very negative way."

With ongoing friction between the Republican and Democratic parties, Braun says, the climate of the room changes with the topics being discussed.

"Everybody is congenial," Braun said. "But, man, when you get to the key issues... that gets into the Hatfield's and McCoys."
