Traffic Stop for Speeding Nets Stolen Gun and Drugs
Gibson Co. – The traffic stop of a Milwaukee man revealed a stolen gun and drugs on Friday night.
Friday evening, February 25, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Troopers were patrolling US 41 north of Princeton when they stopped the driver of a Chevrolet Avalanche for driving 79 mph in the posted 60 mph zone.
The driver was identified as Aurthur Thomas, 56, of Milwaukee, WI. Troopers detected the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. Troopers searched the vehicle and located numerous baggies containing a total weight of approximately 171 grams of marijuana.
Troopers also found a pill bottle containing suspected cocaine, a pill bottle containing 24 Oxycontin pills, and a Ruger LCP .380 caliber pistol. Further investigation revealed the pistol had been reported stolen from Wisconsin and Thomas was driving without ever receiving a valid driver’s license.
Thomas was arrested and taken to the Gibson County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
