Huntingburg- A suspect fled on foot after an accident in Huntingburg, sending Southwest Dubois County Schools into a shelter inside order.

In an email sent to parents by Southridge High School Principal Greg Gogel, the accident happened south of the school. Huntingburg PD contacted administration to alert them the suspect had fled on foot from the accident and officers were in pursuit.

All schools in the district were placed on an immediate shelter inside order, meaning students and staff will still be learning in classrooms and indoor activities, but no one would be allowed to leave the building or go outside. The district is working with law enforcement for an increased presence around the buildings.

Detective Wade Pierce tells us the suspect is still being searched for at this time. He is believed to have a warrant out of Warrick County.

“Through further investigation we learned the suspect has a warrant out of Warrick County,” said Detective Pierce.

Detective Pierce says there is not believed to be any threat to the public at this time.

No other information has been released.
