Sunday Police Chase Began In Perry County, Ended in Crash on I 69

PERRY COUNTY -- A driver was sent to the hospital Sunday after leading police on a chase that started in Perry County.

A state trooper out of the Jasper post stopped a vehicle for going 108 mph on I-64. 

Police say 43-year-old Steven Coy of Newburgh fled in his vehicle as the trooper approached.

The chase ended on I 69 in Vanderburgh County when the driver crashed into an overpass embankment near the 18 mile marker.

Coy was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

He was receiving medical attention as of late last night.  We are awaiting results of a chemical test to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor.

No word today on why the man fled.
