Students Learn Bus Safety Tips from Jasper PD

By: Corbin Lingenfelter, News Director

Jasper- You’ve heard numerous times how to be safe when driving if school buses are on the road.

Jasper Police and GJCS School Resource Officer Jason Knies also is teaching safety to students who travel on school buses at Ireland Elementary.

“We want to get them to and from school safely,” said Officer Knies.

Knies took students through proper ways to approach a bus, safety measures when inside, and told them how to be safe when waiting for their buses to arrive.

“It’s just another thing that helps the bus drivers out and the students and parents,” He said.

Students should arrive at their bus stop five minutes before their scheduled pick up times, as buses may arrive early. They should never be standing or playing in the street and always cross the street in a safe manner.

Officer Knies and Officer Brian Lampert will be hosting a second safety session at Jasper Elementary on Monday.
