Sports Director Walt Ferber Celebrates 40 Years With WITZ Radio

JASPER -- Tuesday, April 14th is a day that will forever go down in WITZ and Dubois County history.
On this date 40 years ago, Walt Ferber joined the WITZ FM team. Over the past four decades, Walt has become a local legend and of the most familiar voices in our area today.
Walt is a graduate of New Albany High School and Indiana University. He started in radio at WREY where he was the youngest radio sports director in the entire state. He worked for radio stations in Bloomington before joining WITZ 1980.
An award-winning broadcaster and sports Hall-of-Famer, Walt has hosted the Southridge Forecasters program for 18 years and hosts sportscasts through the day on WITZ Monday - Saturday.
One thing you may not read in a biography of Walt Ferber is the profound impact he has on everyone he meets. Walt's passion for sports and this community is contagious. His passion, love and support for his co-workers are unmatched, as Walt is often to station cheerleader, not only an amazing advocate for the work we do, but a dear friend to those who are doing the work we do.
Walt is married to his wife, Melanie. They live in Holland.
