Spencer County Human Remains Identified
Spencer Co.- Indiana State Police officials have positively identified the human remains found in Spencer County Saturday.
ISP Sergeant Robbie Lambert said in a press conference Sunday the remains were those of Donald Westfall Jr. of Chrisney, Indiana. Westfall had been missing from Chrisney since 2018.
The remains were found by hunters searching for shed deer antlers on US 231 near 1000 north just after noon Saturday. The hunters contacted 9-1-1 to report the remains and ISP was called in to investigate. An anthropologist was called to assist with the identification of the remains.
“This is still an active investigation,” said Sgt. Lambert at a press conference Sunday. Relatives of Westfall were in attendance as the announcement was made.
ISP has yet to release a cause of death.
