Southwest School Board Meeting June 2024
The Southwest Dubois County School Corporation’s regular board meetings for June took a moment to
celebrate the great accomplishments of students in 2024 and to prepare for the coming school year as
well.
The board recognized the tremendous ILEARN scores for the Spring 2024 Mathematics test earned by
third graders at Holland Elementary School. 27% of students demonstrated proficiency, and 54% tested
at above grade level proficiency, bringing the total pass rate to 81%. Congratulations were also
expressed for Angelica Sierra from Southridge High School, who placed second in Shot Put and
advanced to State Finals.
In other business, the board reviewed field trip requests, approved authorizations to hire fall staff as
needed, and approved a maximum class size of 200 for the upcoming school year. Additionally, they
approved a NEOLA policy revision and approved the first readings of several NEOLA special updates.
Southwest Dubois County School Corporation regular board meetings are open to the public and are
held on the third Thursday of the month from 5:30-6:30. The next regular meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, July 18 th . The SWDCS board room is located at 105 W Sunset Drive in Huntingburg.
