Southern Indiana Woman Indicted on Hate Crime Charge

Evansville- The US Department of Justice- Southern District, announced the indictment of a woman. 

56-year-old Billie Davis was indicted by a federal jury for causing bodily injury on January 11, 2023. The victim was of Chinese descent. It is believed the victim’s race and national origin were the motive in the attack, say prosecutors. Investigators believe Davis’ intent was to kill the victim.

The FBI Indianapolis Field Office and Bloomington Resident Agency investigated the case, with assistance from the Bloomington Police Department. 

Davis’ indictment means it is believed she committed the crime. It is not a conviction nor admittance of guilt.

Davis is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, by a jury of her peers.
