Sounds of the Season Event to Feature Members of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Shepard Brass Band

Ferdinand- Members of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra’s Eykamp String Quartet and the Shepard Brass Band will perform a “Sounds of the Season” program at the Monastery Immaculate Conception Church located at 802 East 10th Street in Ferdinand on Saturday, November 18, at 7 p.m. EST as part of Ferdinand’s 26th annual Christkindlmarkt. Strings, Inc., a Dubois County-based non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing professional, personalized violin instruction, will perform a pre-show before the string and brass ensembles’ 7 p.m. start.

Thanks to the generous support of event sponsors MasterBrand Cabinets and the Ferdinand Tourism Commission, this is a free event and guests of all ages are invited and encouraged to attend.  While the event is free, there will be the opportunity for a freewill offering to the Sisters of St. Benedict.

Early arrival is recommended as seating and onsite parking is limited.

“Ferdinand’s Christkindlmarkt is rich in tradition! The Sounds of the Season Christkindlmarkt concert to be held in the beautifully domed church of the monastery will be one of the highlights where guests can enjoy the delights of Christmas in an ‘Olde World’ setting,” said Tracy Weyer, president of the Ferdinand Tourism Commission.

The evening will feature live symphonic music by the Eykamp String Quartet, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra’s principal string players, as well as a performance by the Shepard Brass band—a brass quintet comprised of University of Evansville faculty members.  The Sounds of the Season free event is being held in conjunction with the Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt taking place Saturday, November 18, through Sunday, November 19.
