Solid Waste District’s 4H Fair Booth – Recycle your toothbrush, sign up for prizes and more

Dubois Co.- The Dubois County Solid Waste District invites all residents to visit our booth in the Farm Bureau Building at the Dubois County 4H. The building is open Monday July 18 thru Thursday July 21 from 6 pm to 9 pm.

We have several features this year:

Plastic toothbrush recycling all week- Yup that’s right, bring your old toothbrush (dry and clean please!). Find the recycling bin at our booth and drop your brush right in! Local 9 year old, Amelia Schipp, has decided that she wants to make a change because she is “worried about Earth and all of the litter and animals in danger.” Her research on plastic waste led her to TerraCycle, which has a toothbrush recycling program! Please support Amelia’s efforts by recycling your plastic toothbrush- Amelia also wants you to consider using bamboo toothbrushes as one way to use less plastic- and she has a display board with her recycle bin that you can check out at our booth!

Residents are invited to stop by and sign up for nightly prizes before 8 pm- stop by at 8 or after that evening to see if your name is on the prize board and pick up your prize. – each evening we will have items like high quality water bottles, Chicobag reusable bags, mini-recycling bins and bamboo toothbrushes.

Free Ice Water Refills- BYOBottle: In cooperation with the Soil and Water Conservation District, fairgoers can bring their reusable water bottle to the Farm Bureau building for an ice cold tap water refill. Find the self-serve cooler on the north side of the building. Don’t forget to BYOBottle!

All fairgoers are invited to stop by the booth, located in the Farm Bureau Building (you know, where the free popcorn is!), Monday, July 18 to Thursday, July 21 from 6 to 9 pm for info and giveaways each evening. Questions such as “How do I get rid of this?” and “Can this be recycled?” are always welcome.
