Shopping Local For the Holidays

Dubois Co.- The Holiday Season is here and with it comes encouragement from local merchants.

Throughout Dubois County, cities will be celebrating their respective Holiday events. In Jasper it is O'tannenbaum Season, formerly known as O'tannenbaum Days.

“We had so many events going on that we wanted to make it a whole season,” said Jamie Jahn, the owner of Downtown Fitness and Running and President of Jasper’s Downtown Merchants, “Really let people know all the events we have, not just the events on one particular weekend.”

One of the many events on the schedule is Pink Friday, which is a way to support local businesses. Pink Friday is Friday, November 17th.

Jahn and other merchants encourage shoppers this Holiday Season to look towards locally owned businesses for their shopping needs.

“It’s so important to support local businesses,” Jahn said, “We rely on our customers and we love our customers. We do everything we can for great customer service and shopping local really does help the community.”

“We talk about this every year,” said Andrea Tooley, owner of the Firefly Boutique, “We know that it’s probably not practical that everything you buy comes from local stores, but what we like to say is at least start locally, try to shop local.”
