Second Arrest Made in Clarksville Shooting Investigation
Clarksville- Detectives from the Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg arrested a second individual on two counts of attempted murder after someone fired shots into the Clarksville Police chief's residence in September of 2022.
On September 18, 2022, ISP Detectives responded to the home of the Clarksville Police chief after someone fired several rounds into his house. No one was injured in the incident; however, Clarksville Police Department detectives, crime scene technicians, and ISP detectives recovered multiple shell casings at the scene. The investigation also uncovered evidence that numerous rounds struck and entered the residence.
ISP Detective Chris Tucker continued the investigation with the assistance of the Clarksville Police Department and in conjunction with the Clark County Prosecutor's Office. On Tuesday, November 13, 2022, Detective Tucker, armed with an arrest warrant, arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile on two counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm, a level 5 Felony.
The juvenile was arrested in Floyd County and transported to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center without incident.
Detective Tucker continued the investigation in the belief that more than one individual was involved in the shooting. Over the past year, Detective Tucker wrote and served over 20 subpoenas and search warrants and conducted numerous interviews to pursue all pertinent information and responsible individuals. On November 13, 2023, as a result of the continued investigation, Detective Tucker requested an arrest warrant for 18-year-old James Louis Wall of Clarksville, Indiana.
The warrant is for two counts of attempted murder, a Level 1 Felony, and one count of Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm, a Level 5 Felony.
On Thursday, November 30, 2023, Trooper Tim Barclay, and officers from the Clarksville Police Department located and arrested James Wall in Clarksville, Indiana. Trooper Barclay remanded James Wall into the custody of the Clark County Jail without further incident.
Detectives and officers with the Clarksville Police Department assisted Detective Tucker throughout the investigation.
