Sandra Morton Files for Re-Election in Dubois County Auditor Race
Local Sources - Sandra L. “Sandy” Morton of Jasper has filed seeking re-election as the Dubois County Auditor on the Democratic ticket in the May primary.
As current auditor, Morton is the Chief Financial Officer of the County. She works with all county departments and taxing units on the annual budget processes. She prepares the County financial statements and annual reports which are audited by the State Board of Accounts. The office processes payroll for county employees and handles all receipts and disbursements of county funds. Additionally, the office maintains property ownership transfers, processes deduction and abatement filings, as well as maintains the county computer systems and county website.
Morton serves as secretary to the Board of Commissioners, the County Council, and the County Drainage Board. She is a member of the advisory council for the property tax software used by the county. During her first term, she supported the establishment of the human resources department, served on the Risk Management, Employee Wellness, CARES and ARPA Committees, and assisted in securing bonds for the jail construction project.
Morton and her husband, Mark, are lifelong residents of Dubois County. They have two daughters, Emily (Kyle) Mullins of Jasper, and Jordan Morton of New Albany, and two grandsons, Nolan and Rylan Mullins. Morton is the daughter of Mary Ziliak of Ferdinand.
Morton, 58, graduated from Forest Park High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University. She continues her education by attending trainings and seminars held by the Indiana County Auditors Association and the Association of Indiana Counties. Recently, she graduated from the AIC Institute for Excellence in County Government.
