Rotary Club of Jasper 2022 Community Grant Cycle Application Deadline March 21
Local Sources - The Rotary Club of Jasper’s Community Grant Cycle application deadline is quickly approaching.
The impact these grants have made can be felt throughout Dubois County. Interested nonprofits can visit www.jasperrotary.com for more information or to apply.
In 2020, the Rotary Club of Jasper awarded Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center that year’s grant. For the past two years, every newborn has been sent home with a month’s supply of diapers and a book. Preston and Alyssa Weisheit from Jasper were recently grateful recipients of the gift.
“Thank you very much to the Rotary Club for the large box of diapers in our room at Memorial Hospital,” said new father Preston Weisheit. “We delivered three weeks early, but baby and Mom are doing great! The package is much appreciated and will not go to waste.”
In 2021, the Tri-County YMCA received the grant to cover Safe Sitter class costs for area youth. Traditionally, the course can cost up to $50 per student. The half-day course teaches life skills, safety skills, and child care training in hopes of building safer communities. Recently, Millie Popp (age 10) of Jasper took advantage of the complimentary course.
“I’m very proud of Millie for voluntarily spending a day learning how to be a Safe Sitter at the YMCA!” said Millie’s mother, Lauren Popp. “She was so excited to be one step closer to having a babysitting business and learning how to take good care of her little brother. Thank you, Rotary Club of Jasper, for providing kids with this amazing opportunity to learn.”
Interested nonprofit groups can access the online application at www.jasperrotary.com or on the club’s Facebook page. Applications are due by March 21, 2022. The club’s grants committee will review all applications submitted and plans to announce the awards in May, with funds released in August 2022. Applications for up to $12,000 in funding will be accepted, and they must match one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus: Basic Education and Literacy, Maternal and Child Health, Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Community and Economic Development and Environment.
