Rosina Sandoval Monsivais Named 2022 Athena Award Winner

Dubois Co.- The 2022 Athena award goes to… Rosina Sandoval Monsivais.

Monsivais was named the winner at Thursday night’s Athena Banquet at the Huntingburg Event Center.

During the ceremony, her story was shared with the crowd that came to show support to the four finalists.

“Rosina made an incredibly hard decision to give up her professional practice of psychology to immigrate to the United States. In her current role at Southwest Dubois School Corporation, she is making an impact on the students, their families, school staff and the community to help carry out her vision to level the field,” Said Rotary Club President Joyce Fleck.

Monsivais is currently with the the South West Dubois County School Corporation as their Director of Community Engagement.

“I feel so grateful and so humbled. I was really truly not expecting this,” said Rossina after her win, “With all my heart I feel so much love from the community and I am so ready to work and give it back.”

Even after winning the award for her service to the community, Monsivais is still focused on her upcoming projects. One of which is a Health fair on September 2nd.

She received the Athena Trophy along with a book signed by keynote speaker, Pat Koch.

Other finalists for this year’s award were Joyce Beck, Mary Leah Siegel, and Patricia “Pat” Thyen.
