Revamped Daffodil Street Coming to Huntingburg this Weekend
By Kris Norton
Huntingburg – A revamped Daffodil Stroll will return to downtown Huntingburg April 2nd and 3rd.
This weekend the Huntingburg Merchant Association, in what the organization is calling an “Egg-Sale-a-bration”, is urging Dubois County residents to shop local while enjoying the local surroundings on 4th Street.
Kimberly Menke, with the Huntingburg Merchant’s Association, joined WITZ’s Justin Howard live on air on Monday and said the hope is for the Daffodil Stroll to resemble another local event.
“We’re hoping this is similar to the Christmas Stroll, just more of the spring version,” Menke said.
The Daffodil Stroll, an event that has been held in Huntingburg in the past, has been revamped for a more kid-friendly event, Menke says.
“The Daffodil Stroll was an event that’s been around for a while,” Menke said. “But, we just resurrected it in the last couple of years and expounded on it and made it a little bigger and better for families – a full weekend event.”
While store hours may vary, the majority of shops will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. EST. Though the festivities begin earlier than that on Saturday.
Located at the Market Street Park and Upper Plaza, Face Painting with Lacey will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon. At 10:00 a.m., the 2022 Daffodil King, Queen, Prince, and Princess will be crowned. Also at 10:00 a.m., the Easter Bunny Stroll will commence before an 11:00 a.m. Strorytime with Mary Jo Huff.
At noon on Saturday Destination Huntingburg will host an Egg Hunt in Market Street Park.
Then, Menke says, the afternoon is the perfect time to find a sitter for the kids and head back downtown. From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., 4th Street and merchants will be hosting a “Hoppy Hour” with live music.
Sunday will see the bulk of local stores open from noon to 4:00 p.m., though individual store hours may vary.
