Recount Called for in Local Election

Jasper- A recount for one race of November’s Municipal Elections has been filed and approved by the Dubois County Circuit Court.

The election in question is Vince Helming’s (R) victory over Dave Hurst (D). Helming won the election on November 8th with 50.2% of the vote. 

In a court document received by WITZ, Sandra Morton has been appointed to the Recount Commission for the Democratic Party. Michael Jones has been appointed by the Republicans. David Shelton was also appointed to the commission.

The recount will take place on December 15th at 9:00 AM at the Dubois County Court Annex building. 

Circuit Court Judge Nathan Verkamp approved the recount on Thursday.
