Race Fees Increase for Heartland Half Marathon, 5k, and Team Challenge on June 26

Ferdinand- The 11th annual Heartland Half Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2023 will happen in a new location…Ferdinand, Indiana!

The stop in Ferdinand is the final stop in the three-year circuit (previously in Jasper in 2021 and Huntingburg in 2022).

Be sure to sign up before the registration fees increase on June 26.  The registration fees are as follows:

  • Half Marathon$60 now until June 25. The fee will increase to $70 starting June 26, and then again to $80 on August 14 until race day.
  • 5K: $25 now until June 25. The fee will increase to $30 June 26 until race day.
  • Team Challenge: $30 per person/$120 per team until June 25. Then the fee increases to $35 per person/ $140 per team until race day.
  • Kids Fun Run: $20 until August 13; $25 starting August 14 until race day.

The Kids Fun Run and Festival will kick-off the weekend activities on Friday, September 15 with a 1.1 mile fun run for the kids through 18th Street Park. The Half Marathon, 5K & Team Challenge will take place Saturday, the same day as the popular Ferdinand Folk Festival. Make plans to relax in 18th Street Park after the race to enjoy live music from 12-9pm ET.

The Heartland event is grounded with community support as the majority of proceeds (90%) will be split between two benefactors:

  1. The Phillip R. Dawkins Heart & Vascular Center to be utilized for new integrative medicine services provided to patients at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center
  2. Girls on the Run Southwest Indiana, allowing the organization to grant financial assistance to girls from low-economic backgrounds to ensure equitable and inclusive program access. 

The remaining 10% goes into the DC Multisport Endowment for succession planning of the organization and future charitable donations.
