Pursuit Leads to Arrest

Orange Co.-On July 6, 2022, at approximately 7:54pm Sergeant Mike Allen attempted to stop a Honda Shadow motorcycle in French Lick for Distracted Driving.

The driver, Ricky Daugherty, of Taswell, refused to stop. The motorcycle left the roadway, driving through a yard and Daugherty fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and  Daugherty was taken into custody without further incident.

Mr. Daugherty was in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. He also had an arrest warrant out of Crawford County. Troopers conducted a Drug Recognition Evaluation and it was determined he was intoxicated. Mr. Daugherty was given a chemical test at  IU Health Paoli and tested positive for Methamphetamines, Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines and THC.

Daugherty was booked into the Orange County Jail on the following charges:

Resisting with a motor vehicle

Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of Marijuana

OWI Controlled substance
