Dubois - Construction is ongoing at the Northeast Dubois Junior/Senior High School building.

The most prominent construction and renovation, Northeast Dubois Superintendent Bill Hochgesang says, is taking place around the front entrance of the building.

“We are completely changing the outside look of our Junior/Senior High,” Hochgesang said. “When you first come in, it’ll be the weight room, the 7th and 8th grade Junior High Gym, and then the whole office area will be revamped and brought out from the front of the school.”

Hochgesang estimates that the new gym will hold approximately 500 spectators and will be used for a number of different sports and events.

“It’s a continuation of our improvement of that building, it’ll definitely be changing the look of the building; but giving us a lot of space,” said Hochgesang.

Not to be left out, the existing High School gym will be renovated with new seats – with installation to begin in late July.

The new expanded office area will make room for the creation of three new classrooms, as well as enhanced safety features for the school.

“The office area, that will give us a proper entrance for safety and security for our students,” Hochgesang said. “Within that, we’ll also have a nice, kind of like a, theater area… where teachers can take their individuals classes out there and do some lessons with them.

The district hopes to have all construction wrapped up by March 2022.
