For the 2022-2023 school year, a number of administrators will see new roles - and students will see new principals.

In Sunday's Dubois County School Forum, Superintendent Tim LaGrange explained the reasons behind the moves.

"That's because of a couple personal situations," LaGrange said. "We had a long-time administrator in Kelly Murphy, who wanted to go back to the classroom. It fit his life better at this point."

LaGrange says that Murphy is not the only administrator to move on from their current position.

"Additionally, Chad Sickbert, another long-time employee and administrator, has chosen to leave the profession and pursue other things outside the profession," LaGrange said.

Though different faces may be behind different desks, LaGrange says that making sure that those are familiar faces will give the district stability.

"[A] Lot of changes but also some familiar faces," LaGrange said. "So, even though there's some personnel in some different buildings, I think that overall we're going to have some stability."

Among the changes, Greg Gogel will move to Southridge High School to become the high school principal; Greg Werner will stay on as Vice Principal.

Chad Whitehead has been named the new Southridge Middle School principal, a position that LaGrange says falls right in line with his experience.

"Which is kind of a little more in his lane, in his background," LaGrange said. "He started last year as Huntingburg [Elementary] Principal."

Whitehead had been at Holland Elementary when Murphy left.

That opens up a principal position at Holland Elementary, to be filled by Jeremy Marshall. He is currently the interim principal at Huntingburg Elementary, where he began the year as assistant principal.

Through the rotations, that left a vacancy at Huntingburg Elementary.

"We have hired Megan Anselment as the principal at Huntingburg Elementary," LaGrange said. "She started the year in a Kindergarten classroom and slid into an interim assistant principal role. [She] Has done an outstanding job, and so she will be taking over that building next year."

A search is currently underway for the assistant principal position at Huntingburg Elementary.
