Primary Elections Approaching in Indiana

Dubois Co. - County and statewide primary elections are on the horizon as Dubois County Clerk Amy Kippenbrock reminds residents of important dates and election protocol.

Though primary elections won't be held until May 3rd, there are plenty events and bits of information the public needs to know, according to Dubois County Clerk Amy Kippenbrock.

The first of which is a public test of election equipment, scheduled for March 25th.

"We want to make sure that it's performing at the right speed, then making sure that we have enough equipment in the right places for that to happen correctly," Kippenbrock said.

The public test is an opportunity for residents within the community to observe the process and ask questions. Voting machine vendors will be on hand for the event.

While properly-functioning equipment is a key component in ensuring a quick and accurate voting experience, individuals also play a part in keeping lines and wait times short. Reviewing sample ballots ahead of time is one way to do that, Kippenbrock says.

"If you are prepared before coming into the voting center it does speed things up for the whole process of everyone waiting in line so you're not at the machine and thinking it through," Kippenbrock said. "Some people have made a little note on a Post-It note and brought it along with them."

For the first time, Dubois County is a Vote Center County. Voters may cast their ballot at any polling location on Election Day – rather than being assigned to one specific location.

According to Kippenbrock, both parties are still seeking poll workers for election day. To get in touch with party officials, contact the Office of the County Clerk by dialing 812-481-7035.
