Power is Back On Following Thursday Morning Outage
A major power outage plunged portions of Dubois County into darkness Thursday morning.
The Dubois REC confirms the outage, which impacted portions of Jasper, Huntingburg, Celestine and St. Henry, is being blamed on a problem with a Vectren line that feeds power to local substations.
Eyewitnesses report hearing an explosion at a substation in Jasper moments before the lights went out. Utility officials confirm a fire was put out at the substation.
Power had been restored by mid-morning.
