Perry County Officials Announce Third COVID Related Death; the Second in Two Days

PERRY COUNTY -- A third Perry County resident has died from complications due to COVID-19, health officials confirmed Friday.
In a statement, the Perry County Health Department announced the death happened at a long-term care facility in the county. This is the third COVID-19 associated death reported for Perry County and the second within a 24 hour period. We reported another death at a long-term care facility in the county that happened Thursday. We don't know if the two are connected or from the same facility.

"The thoughts and prayers of The Perry County Health Department are with the family, friends, and loved ones at this time," county health officials said in that statement.
In addition, health officials are announcing one new positive case of the virus in Perry County. This brings the county's total to 105 cases. "This new case is NOT affiliated with a nursing home or prison," the Health Department says, adding, "This individual has been placed on strict home isolation."
Anyone identified as a close contact to this case will be placed on a 14 day home quarantine. No other information will be released.
