Owensboro Man Arrested in Stolen Vehicle in Jasper

Jasper - An Owensboro man was arrested in Jasper on Sunday on charges stemming from a stolen vehicle.


On Sunday, Jasper Police was notified of a stolen vehicle travelling into Jasper near U.S. 231 and 100 South. The 1994 Ford Ranger in question had been stolen from in Owensboro, Kentucky, the previous day.

Officers located the unoccupied vehicle at the Comfort Inn. After several minutes, Christopher Gillihan, 40, of Owensboro, exited the Inn and entered the stolen vehicle.

Officers pulled Gillihan over at the intersection of Hospitality Drive and 100 South. 

Through questioning, Gillihan admitted to stealing the vehicle. Officers also learned that he was using a cell phone app that was scanning police frequencies.

Gillihan was arrested and charged with a felony count of Possession of Stolen Property and misdemeanors of Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Use of a Police Radio.

Police say that Gillihan also had several active felony warrants in Warrick County.
