One on One with Governor Hopeful Mike Braun

Jasper- Current Indiana Senator Mike Braun announced he will be leaving Washington to come back to the Hoosier state.
Braun filed paperwork in 2022 to run for the Governor seat that will be vacated in 2024. Current Governor Eric Holcomb is term limited, thus he is ineligible for reelection.
Braun began his state political career in 2014, being the Representative of Indiana’s 63rd District. He would hold that seat until 2017, when he announced he would be running for US Senate against incumbent Joe Donelly. After serving for nearly five years on Capitol Hill, Braun says he wants to give being the head of Indiana’s State Government a shot.
“I wanted to give my shot at it,” the senator said, “If I am successful in getting elected our next Governor, I’ll show what an entrepreneurial Governor can do and I’m not going to get out of politics in the near term. It’ll be a while before I decide to hunt and fish full time.”
Braun, the former CEO and Founder of Meyer Truck and Equipment, shared one of his goals should he be elected is to reform the state’s health care system, citing the cost for care compared to other states.
“I want to reform it to make it better. More transparent, more competitive at a lower cost. I did it in my own business fifteen years ago,” Braun said.
Part of being a successful politician, according to Braun, is having a business and entrepreneurial background. He tells us the two go hand in hand.
“It has helped me greatly,” Braun expressed, “If you are going to be a successful politician, there are a lot of common traits with being an entrepreneur.”
Three other Indiana representatives have filed for a governor run, Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch (R), Eric Doden (R), and Bob Kern (D).
