NORTHEAST DUBOIS SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
The Northeast Dubois County School Corporation held a brief meeting on Tuesday night to
prepare for the upcoming school year.
Vouchers were approved for the purchase of new Chromebooks, which are on a four-year
rotation, and for the purchase of tiles to be installed in the Junior/Senior High School.
Some additional staff recommendations were made, including Nicole Seitz, a 2011 Northeast
Dubois alumna, who was approved by the board as a new math teacher at the Junior/Senior
High School. In addition, Nikki Haefling, who is also a Northeast Dubois alumna, was approved
to be hired as a health sciences teacher for the school.
The board accepted bread and milk bids for the coming year, and also set the prices for
cafeteria meals for 2025. For students in grades K through 12, breakfast will be $1.50. Lunches
will be $2 for preschoolers, $2.30 for students in grades K through 8, and $2.50 for students in
grades 9 through 12. Adult breakfasts will be $2.50 and adult lunches will be $4.60.
Classified salary increases for the 24-25 school year were approved by the board. Certified
workers include assistants, ECA treasurers, cafeteria and maintenance staff, bus drivers,
treasurer and deputy treasurer. Increases for certified staff will be submitted in the fall.
In preparation for upcoming capital projects, the board approved the adoption of a
reimbursement resolution. In the fall, there may be an opportunity for the district to do a bond
project in order to take care of some capital project issues, while keeping the tax rate
neutralized. There are some issues that need to be addressed, but those decisions will be made
in August after the board receives the district’s assessed value. By signing the resolution, the
district has ensured that it can be reimbursed for any projects that are completed before the
bond is sold in November. When bonds are sold in the fall, the money is not received
immediately, so this resolution will allow projects to begin before the funds from the bond sale
are received.
The board also took a moment to recognize Landyn Rasche for her amazing achievement in
placing second at state in the 300-meter hurdles.
