NEW DETAILS: Teen Driver Escapes Disabled Vehicle Before it Was Hit by Train in Huntingburg Friday

HUNTINGBURG -- A two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon turned into a more serious situation when one of the disabled vehicles was hit by a train.
It happened around 4 p.m. Friday on SR 64 at Van Buren Street.
Police say a 17-year-old driver from Ferdinand collided with a vehicle in the intersection, pushing the teens vehicle onto the railroad tracks as a train approached. The young driver was able to get out of the car before the train hit.
The impact pushed the car about 15 feet off of the tracks.
Luckily, no one was hurt.
There was minor damage to the train. Both vehicles were totaled.
