New additions, retirements for SuperiorAg Today
Huntingburg- Superior Ag announced the appointment of Ben Duttlinger to its Board of Directors.
His appointment was announced to members at the Superior Ag Annual Meeting that was held on April 18, 2023, in Princeton, Ind. Duttlinger will serve a three-year term on the board as the new At-Large member.
“We are excited to welcome Ben Duttlinger to the Superior Ag Board of Directors,” said Barry Day, Superior Ag President and CEO. “His fresh perspective and well-rounded experience with livestock and row crop farming will be very valuable in helping to guide Superior Ag and serve its member-customers alongside his fellow Directors.”
Duttlinger resides with his wife, Valerie, and two sons on their farm in Gentryville, IN. Since 2002, he has helped manage a row crop and swine operation with his father-in-law, Bill Tempel. In 2012, the Duttlinger’s also began farming on their own. They also have a small cattle herd and sell freezer beef and pork to the local community. Duttlinger is a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Parish Council, President of the Spencer County 4-H Livestock Building Committee, and previously served on the Jackson Twp. and Wheatfield Volunteer Fire Departments.
“It means so much to me to be on Superior Ag’s Board of Directors,” Duttlinger shared. “I appreciate the opportunity to serve my fellow members by focusing on the future of production agriculture, community involvement, and everything Superior Ag has stood for since its inception. I have been a big believer in the cooperative system and I’m glad to be a part of it.”
Superior Ag also announced at the annual meeting that sitting District 1 Directors, Clarence Betz and Terry Gress, retired from the Board following a combined 35+ years of dedicated service each to Superior Ag and Dubois County Co-Op Boards.
“I’d like to thank Clarence (Betz) and Terry (Gress) for their years of dedicated service to the cooperative and steady, thoughtful guidance,” Day added. “They are both great individuals, and their experience and leadership will leave a mark on this company for years to come.”
The Superior Ag Board of Directors is made up of local agriculturalists who are recognized for their industry expertise, as well as economic and community development skills. Responsibilities of the Board of Directors’ is to establish & maintain legal compliance, safeguard the interest of members, provide operating requirements, measure & control performance, and create & abide by policy and procedures. These directors represent the members of Superior Ag, which is comprised of nine elected directors representing different geographical districts throughout the cooperative’s trade territory.
