Jasper- In 2025, the City of Jasper will have a new outdoor pool, according to Mayor Dean Vonderheide.
The current outdoor pool, which is missing one of its key attractions, will shut down permanently following the summer season.
“The pool is still there,” Mayor Vonderheide said, “People still use it on a daily basis, but we’ve definitely seen a decline because without those features, kids are not motivated to come.”
One of those missing features is the water slide. The water slide is out of order due to the water pump failing. The Mayor says a new part would not be available until after the season, thus making one of the most popular attractions inoperable for the remainder of the year.
2023 is the last summer for the current pool and a new one is planned to be completed in 2025. It will have new features, like a splash pad style system, and multiple water slides.
“We do want it to be a place where people feel comfortable,” Vonderheide said, “They can take their whole family and all ages can enjoy it.”
The last day for the current outdoor pool is July 30th, 2023.
