From Local Sources
HUNTINGBURG -- On Thursday, April 18, Regional Opportunity Initiatives, Inc. (ROI) awarded Huntingburg’s Market Street Park project with the Indiana Uplands Regional Quality of Place Innovation Award at their annual report to the region event in French Lick. The award recognizes projects and meaningful community improvements that enhance the Indiana Uplands as an inventive, industrious, and friendly place to live, work, and play.
“We applaud the City of Huntingburg for investing in Market Street Park,” said Tina Peterson, Chief Executive Officer for Regional Opportunity Initiatives, Inc. “Quality of place investments can only make our communities stronger and our region a more attractive place to work, live, and play. Market Street Park is a win for the city, the county and the Indiana Uplands.”
Representatives from the City of Huntingburg, along with Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group, were presented with the award. In its presentation, ROI noted that the Market Street Park project is a worthy recipient of the award for the role it plays in refocusing the potential for downtown Huntingburg, advancing local economic development, and creating a dynamic space that complements the live, work, play environment in the county.
“We are very honored that Market Street Park has been selected for this award, as this recognition reinforces the reasons the project was included in our initial Stellar strategic investment plan.” said Mayor Denny Spinner. “Utilization of the park, which is located in the heart of our historic downtown, demonstrates the ability for both historic and modern amenities to coincide in order to create a quality of place for everyone.”
