MAN ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING AN OFFICER

Dubois CO. - A Huntingburg man was arrested Monday for impersonating a police officer.

County Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter says Jim Zink, 63, had previously worked for the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department as a jail officer. Zink was employed with the sheriff’s office from October 2017 until September 2018.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Zink went to the McDonalds on the Southside of Jasper and demanded a juvenile employee be released to him. He could be seen reaching into his pocket and pulling out a leather badge holder. According to the investigating officer, an outline of a sheriff’s badge could be seen on video. The video also allegedly shows him displaying the badge to an employee.

The juvenile would eventually leave with Zink.

He has been charged with impersonation of a public servant, a Level 6 felony.
