Man Arrested After Discharging Firearm in Jasper Apartment

Just prior to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, the Jasper Police Department was dispatched to the Westwood Apartment complex in Jasper after a single gun shot was reported.

Upon investigation, officers determined that Carlos Zamot, 26, of Jasper, has fired his weapon. The shot resulted in damage to a wall within the apartment.

Officers also located marijuana that the Zamot had attempted to discard prior to officers’ arrival. 

Velez Zamot was charged with criminal recklessness, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
