Locally Owned McDonald’s Raise Over $26,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities
PRESS RELEASE
JASPER — Locally owned McDonald’s Restaurants have raised $26,812.50 for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Ohio Valley through the recent Sleeves for Support fundraiser.
This fundraiser was developed in partnership with Coca-Cola and generated funding for RMHC through sales of insulated beverage sleeves in 39 local McDonald’s restaurants.
“RMHC has allowed so many families in our local community to stay together and near their sick children receiving care,” said Susan Mann, local McDonald’s Owner/Operator. “It’s important to us to support that mission in any way we can to ensure the same access for families in the future.”
RMHC of the Ohio Valley operates two Ronald McDonald Houses and a Hospitality a la Carte program in area hospitals and healthcare facilities. RMHC programs enable family-centered care ensuring families are fully supported and actively involved in their children’s care.
“The Sleeves for Support campaign is one of many avenues used by our local McDonald’s to support RMHC,” said Theresa Floyd-Maas, Executive Director for RMHC of the Ohio Valley. “McDonald’s was the founding mission partner of our charity when the first Ronald McDonald House opened 45 years ago, and the local team has always been an integral part of helping us fulfill our mission to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.”
In addition to Sleeves for Support, local McDonald’s restaurants give back through the Round Up for RMHC program, where patrons can round their bill up to the nearest dollar; through the national Penny Per Happy Meal and local Nickel Per Happy Meal initiative where a portion of every Happy Meal sold is donated to the charity; and through collection boxes that allow patrons to donate extra cash or change. In 2019 alone, $214,753.54 was raised for RMHC inside local McDonald’s restaurants through these programs. These funds directly contributed to the local RMHC mission and the construction of Evansville’s second house in 2019 which expands access to services for area families.
The 39 local restaurants participating in the fundraiser are owned by local operators including Michael Burrell, Ivan Carvajal, Kelsey Hamlet, Chip & Katie Kenworthy, Ryan Kramer, Larry Lovelace, Rick & Susan Mann, Chris McEnaney, and Joseph & Kathy McEnaney.
