Dubois Co.- All five school districts in Dubois County have received a portion of a $22-million dollar grant from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
The Secured School Safety Grants (SSSG) are good for the fiscal year 2023. The funds are to be used to improve the safety and security of the schools inside the district, whether it be paying or hiring School Resource Officers (SROs) or installing and maintaining safety equipment.
The county total comes out to $238,831.12. Each district received:
- GJCS: $78,669.12
- Southeast Dubois: $70,000
- Northeast Dubois: $35,000
- Holy Trinity Catholic: $30,162
- Southwest Dubois: $25,000
For GJCS and Southeast, their funds will go towards the salaries of their school resource officers.
Governor Eric Holcomb said in a press release, “We continue to prioritize investments in school safety to help students and staff succeed without the worry of violence in Hoosier schools. This funding allow schools to address their specific safety needs through additional personnel and programs designed to prepare for and prevent school violence.”
The five districts were part of 425 total school districts across the state that received funds.
