Local Non-Profit Encouraging Support on "Denim Day"

Dubois County- Crisis Connections is asking the community to show support for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The non-profit says April 26th is a day of remembrance and support for those who faced sexual assault. What has become known as "Denim Day", the day is in recognition of an Italian Supreme Court Case that overturned a rape conviction. In the case, members of the court said the female victim's tight jeans aided the man who assaulted her, thus giving consent. In response to the ruling, the women of the Italian Parliament wore denim the day following the ruling as an act of protest and support.

Employers and employees are asked to show their support as well by wearing jeans on April 26th. Employees are also encouraged to fill out "I wear Denim because..." cards and share photos of them and fellow coworkers wearing jeans to their social medias, tagging Crisis Connections in the post.

For those who do not have social media, or wish to be posted by the Crisis Connections team on their account, they can email Malea at [email protected].
