Local “Empty the Shelter” Campaign

Dubois Co.- The Dubois County Humane Society is taking part in the national “Empty the Shelter” Campaign.

The campaign was started by Cathy Bissell in 2011 as a way to help shelters adopt their dogs and cats through reduced adoption fees. Last year, 56,706 pets found homes through the campaign nationally.

DCHS is lowering their adoption fees, a requirement for the campaign, in an effort to find homes for 25 cats and 20 dogs. Dog adoption fees are $50 and cat fees are $25. Puppies four months and under are not eligible in the campaign.

“It’s a really good opportunity for people to meet pets and see if they are a good fit for them,” said Kaia Holt with the Humane Society.

The campaign will run until July 31st. All potential adopters must complete an application prior to their adoption. Applications can be found at duboiscountyhumane.org
