Linton-Stockton Head Coach Arrested
Shelbyville- According to Shelbyville Police, Linton-Stockton Head Basketball Coach Joey Hart has been arrested for a DUI.
Officials say Hart was arrested Monday night and booked into jail around 10:30.
WTWO/WAWV reports callers informed police about an impaired driver near State Road 44 in Shelby County. Officer pulled Hart over after observing him roll through a stop sign. During the traffic stop, police noted the smell of alcoholic beverages coming from the vehicle.
When exiting the vehicle, wearing his Linton Miners coaching attire, Hart was staggering according to officials. He is also said to have not known where he was and thought he was in Clay City. He would not agree to a field sobriety test or breathalyzer.
Hart made his court appearance Tuesday morning. He was released according to WAMB radio.
Hart was scheduled to coach in Saturday’s Semi-State matchup between Linton-Stockton and Parke Heritage at Southridge. He was placed on an indefinite suspension according to School Superintendent Dr. Kathy Goad.
This was not the first arrest for Hart involving alcohol. He was arrested in December 2022 for public intoxication. He was placed on administrative leave during that time as well.
