LifeSpring Health Systems Joins Eastern Half of Country for Largest Free Naloxone Event

On September 26, 2024, LifeSpring will join agencies and advocacy groups from more than 30 states by participating in the country’s largest annual free naloxone day to date, Save a Life Day. Naloxone, more well known by one of its brand names, Narcan, is an easy-to use nasal spray that works to reverse opioid overdoses. For the first time in over 50 years of use, this formerly prescription-only medication was approved for over-the-counter distribution in 2023

LifeSpring Health Systems will have Free Narcan and harm reduction resources available at all office locations in the following counties: Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Perry, Spencer, Dubois, Crawford, Orange. Full list of office locations can be found at: https://www.lifespringhealthsystems.org/about-us/locations/

LifeSpring will also be conducting community outreach in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, and Dubois counties.

All attendees will receive one naloxone kit, an in-person training, and information about local resources.

Kelsey Christian, Project CARE Program Manager at LifeSpring - “We are incredibly excited to host this event at all of our LifeSpring locations across all 11 counties that we serve. Access to Narcan (naloxone) and other harm reduction resources is crucial in addressing the opioid crisis and reducing the number of accidental overdose deaths. Open conversations about overdose, harm reduction, and substance use disorder are essential in breaking down stigma. Normalizing the carrying of Narcan can save lives and encourage more people to respond in emergencies.”
