Jasper - Though the initial, official opening was delayed nearly a year due to COVID-19, Legacy Living Jasper has wasted no time in planning future expansion.

Legacy Living Jasper Leasing Director Kyleigh Kluemper joined WITZ's Live At 7:05 with Charlie Wayne Wednesday morning to highlight the senior living center's future plans. Currently, Legacy Living's Independent care features six one-bedroom apartments and twelve two-bedroom apartments.

"They are all full," said Kluemper. "But, we are building 24 more apartments, twelve being one-bedroom, twelve being two-bedroom."

Kluemper added that the initial construction uncovered a huge need in the area.

"There's obviously a huge need in Dubois County, and the surrounding counties, for this kind of living," Kluemper said. "We found out very quickly that we didn't have enough. Our apartments filled up really quick and we have wait lists for both one- and two-bedroom apartments."

Weather permitting, the current plan is to break ground by the end of June. The timetable for construction is expected to take seven to nine months.
