Lane Restrictions Scheduled for SR 56 Resurface In Pike County

PIKE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane restrictions for a pavement resurface project on State Road 56.

Beginning on or around Thursday, April 29, contractors will begin lane closures in sections on S.R. 56 between S.R. 61 near Pike Central High School and S.R. 257 south of Otwell to begin resurfacing. As a part of this project, contractors will mill the top layer of asphalt off, make patches if needed and replace the road surface with new pavement.

During the project, one 12-foot lane will be open at all times. Load wider than 12-feet should seek an alternate route using the nearest numbered state, U.S. or Interstate routes. Traffic will be controlled by flagging operations for the duration of the project. Depending upon weather conditions, all activities are expected to be complete by early August.

INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
