Kazhia Kolb linoleum block print exhibit at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery
Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, will host an exhibit of linoleum block prints by Kazhia Kolb. The exhibit titled “Transitory Moments” will run from October 16 through November 15.
The series of work in this exhibit is based on sketches done on location. As people move through their environment, their body language is eloquent; their gestures and the way they inhabit space reveals the way they relate to each other. The linoleum block prints allow the tiny sketches to come to life. The simplification of forms translates the immediacy of the lived experience.
Kolb was born in New York City in 1953, and she grew up near London, England. In 1971, she moved to Paris, France, to study at Sorbonne Université and at the École des Beaux-Arts. She moved back to the United States in 1978 and has lived in Saint Meinrad, IN, since 2006.
Over the last 30 years, Kolb has exhibited work in Indiana, Maryland, Virginia, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. Her work is found in various private and corporate collections, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Media General Corporation, Owensboro Medical Health System, St. Vincent/St. Mary’s Health System of Evansville, and Mount Carmel Health System, Columbus, OH. She has also shown her work in juried shows and solo exhibitions, most recently, the Artlink National Print Show, 2024, Fort Wayne, IN; the Parkside National Print Exhibition, 2023, University of Wisconsin; and a solo exhibition at the Jasper Community Arts Center, 2023, Jasper, IN.
